Supporting the College of Science and Mathematics

Why We are Different

A message from alumnus and medical school student James Chen

In a time of national crisis that has increasingly fewer students choosing to pursue degrees in science and mathematics, the College of Science and Mathematics at Cal Poly has stepped up to help compensate for that growing void.

The school is committed to providing its students with a plethora of opportunities not commonly available to undergraduates, including the ability to carry out scientific research as an integral part of the academic curriculum. This concept of learning through service and experience gives students an invaluable hands-on understanding of industry that consistently translates into student success with some of the highest-caliber employers and graduate programs.

Result of the Cal Poly Difference

Cal Poly Science and Mathematics graduates are often praised for being fully prepared to handle the intricacies of their field upon entering the work force. This reputation is invaluable and accompanies alumni throughout their careers.
