Dear College of Science and Mathematics Students:

I am so proud of our college.  We had the largest voter turnout, 58% (versus 51% for the campus) and the greatest margin of approval (72% versus 62% for the campus) in the fee proposal referendum, March 13-14, 2002.  All six colleges received a positive vote; the results are summarized below.

I appreciate that you read my letters and that I was able to talk with so many of you at forums and classes.  This fee increase is very important to the future of the College of Science and Mathematics.  We will begin Spring Quarter with the consultation process, at both the department and college levels, to determine the best uses of the first year fee revenues so as to equitably benefit each of our departments.   I look forward to working with our students and faculty in developing a process to ensure the enduring value of this fee increase for the purposes intended.  I hope you will take opportunities to become involved.

Sincerely

Philip S. Bailey, Dean
