starfishSAN LUIS OBISPO – Cal Poly students will be offering some hands-on experience with sea creatures at the Avila Beach Sea Life Center Saturday, Feb. 11 and Saturday, Feb. 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Students enrolled in a Cal Poly course called Communicating Ocean Sciences to Informal Audiences will be presenting activities that are family-friendly and appropriate for all ages. Children (and adults) can see, touch and learn about hermit crabs, sea stars, sea urchins, clams, sea snails and more. They can also sort through mystery beach buckets to learn about shells, rocks, driftwood and seaweed found on the Central Coast. Both Saturday events will happen rain or shine.

The Sea Life Center is located at 50 San Juan St. in Avila Beach. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for children, seniors and students, and free for ages two and under.

For more details, visit the center’s website at: www.sealifecenter.org.
