Purchasing a Computer - Students

If you are experiencing financial hardship and are unable to afford the technology you need to be academically successful, you can apply to Cal Poly Cares for assistance. Cal Poly Cares is available to any Cal Poly student including those who are not federal Title IV eligible, such as international and undocumented students. Information on additional financial assistance, assistive technology, and remote learning is available on the Student Technology webpage.

The College of Science and Mathematics does not have strict requirements around student computers. However, a well functioning computer is an important tool for academic success. A computer with the specifications below should last for your four years at Cal Poly:
