Cal Poly College of Science & Mathematics Appoints New Associate Deans

The College of Science & Mathematics has named three professors to be associate deans. Derek Gragson will focus on facilities, resources and enrollment management. Kellie Green Hall will direct program development, review and assessment as well as strategic planning. Camille O'Bryant will concentrate on student success and welfare and issues of diversity and inclusivity.
"This team brings a strong combination of expertise in different areas," said Dean Phil Bailey. "Derek, Kellie and Camille will help shape the strategies that will advance the college."
Derek Gragson
Having overseen the college's move into the Warren J. Baker Center for Science & Mathematics, Gragson brings substantial experience in resources management to the position. He also led the team that transformed the general chemistry curriculum to use a combined lecture-lab format in studio classrooms. Gragson has won multiple, external research grants during his time at Cal Poly and received the campus's Distinguished Teaching Award in 2009.
Kellie Green Hall
Hall has a wealth of knowledge in the area of academic programs, having served as the graduate coordinator and chair of assessment for the Kinesiology Department. An active member of both the Cal Poly and professional communities for many years, she has held multiple leadership roles, including research chair for the Southwest District of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. Hall has engaged students in her ongoing research program during her time at Cal Poly. She holds degrees in both mathematics and kinesiology.
Camille O'Bryant
Throughout her career, O'Bryant, a kinesiology professor, has focused on issues of diversity and inclusivity on campus and in the community, especially in the area of sports. Her many leadership roles in campus and national organizations include president of the Western Society for the Physical Education of College Women in 2008-10, co-chair of the Cal Poly Black Faculty and Staff Association in 2012-14, and BEACoN student mentor and advocate for underrepresented students in 2014-15. O'Bryant received the Cal Poly Distinguished Teaching Award in 2014 and was recently named alumni trustee at Smith College.
"As the college looks toward the future, the associate deans will work with the faculty and staff to support student success in all areas of the college," Bailey said.
