Cal Poly students came out in big numbers for these two inaugural Bailey College events focused on providing valuable resources and mentorship to our students as they envision and plan their career and professional paths.
At the Career Fair, students took advantage of helpful offerings including resume tips, expert-led conversations, interactive interview practice and networking with industry professionals.
Participating companies connected with promising students, conducted on-campus interviews, or shared job openings info. They had direct access to a highly qualified and talented pool of soon-to-be-graduates who could potentially be perfect fits for their needs.

The Innovation Gathering was designed to allow students interested in learning about innovation and entrepreneurship to ask questions and glean insights into career options by connecting in-person with industry professionals, seasoned entrepreneurs and experienced faculty. It was a lively and well-attended event that proved very useful to Bailey undergraduates.
“Having that extra wisdom and extra support has been so amazing,” said biochemistry major Charlie Palmer, who attended the Innovation Gathering. “There's a paralyzing feature of starting a company and having someone else to bounce ideas off of has been so important.”

23rd Annual Bailey College Student Research Conference

The annual Student Research Conference is a longtime Bailey College tradition occurring on campus each May in the Baker Center. Poster presentations and student talks on innovative and relevant projects provide undergraduate researchers the opportunity to share and communicate their work with peers, faculty, graduates and professionals from various fields.
Throughout the multi-day conference, students engaged with alumni and industry professionals, receiving mentorship and career advice, along with strengthening their Mustang network.

research with an alum at the conference.
The conference continues to expand in size and participation each year. For this year's event, more than 450 Cal Poly students participated, representing a growing culture of learning and discovery through research. More than half of those students were involved with the conference for the first time.
Bailey College faculty members and staff worked tirelessly to organize the research event, encourage student registration and arrange alumni mentor conversation sessions. Biological sciences Professors Dena Grossenbacher and Elena Keeling were key to the planning along with Adrienne Seiler, events coordinator in the Bailey College Dean's Office.

In addition to the conference activities, a special gathering took place in the Frost Center to recognize a lab being renamed to reflect the generous donation from Sarepta Therapeutics. Signage with the new lab name was unveiled for Sarepta Scholars, a Sarepta Therapeutics executive and the co-directors and staff of the Center for Applications in Biotechnology.
The 2025 Bailey College Student Research Conference was generously supported by Sarepta Therapeutics.
